Eight new homes were recently built in hurricane ravaged Westmoreland by United States based company, Bartalozzi Homes. Owner of the entity, Dirk Bartalozzi led a team of volunteer carpenters from Wisconsin in the US to Jamaica to build new wooden homes for Hurricane Melissa victims who are employees of Couples Resorts.

The St Mary Police are probing two separate murders committed in Huddersfield, and Belfield Works, yesterday. Dead are 21-year-old Javarntai Taitam of Belfield Works, and 48-year-old Jordan Murphy, a tiler of Fernandez Gardens in Huddersfield, in the parish.

An inDrive taxi operator was fatally shot by police along Walkers Avenue in Portmore, St. Catherine, this morning. Dead is 47-year-old Dwayne Brown of the community.

Jamaica and Japan are collaborating on building a marine research vessel to conduct studies on fish stock in the region.    Minister of Fisheries Floyd Green explained that for years the government sought to get an existing research ship, but was unsuccessful due to high demand.

During his contribution in parliament yesterday, Dr. Holness said the bill to establish the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NARRA) under its own special purpose legislation was tabled at the sitting. He said NARRA will have special powers to accelerate development approvals, as well as procurement, enabling the execution of resilient infrastructure projects at a scale and speed Jamaica has never seen before.
