The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) is advising the investing public that it has suspended trading in the shares of Kintyre Holdings (Ja) Limited and Atlantic Hardware & Plumbing Company Limited, effective July 1.
This in the wake of an initial 8 per cent fare adjustment which was implemented a month ago on June 2. The remaining 8 per cent is being applied today across the country.
Commuters in St. James who were spared first phase of taxi fare hike, paying full 16% starting today
Last month, when the Government announced that the 16% would be implemented in two phases - 8% in June and 8% in July - many Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) operators refrained from applying any increase until this morning. Speaking with IRIE FM News, President of the St. James Taxi Association, Dion Chance said the implementation has been going well so far, with no issue reported.
The Sexual Harassment Tribunal received 21 complaints between July 2025 and March this year. The Tribunal was officially established under the Sexual Harassment Protection and Prevention Act, which came into effect in July 2023 and became fully operational last year.
The Post and Telecommunications Department (Jamaica Post) says all mail items destined for countries within the European Union (EU) have been suspended until further notice. The suspension which came into effect yesterday, does not apply to Great Britain.
