Several managers and team members of Sandals Ochi Beach Resort highlighted the importance of literacy by reading to students at the Exchange Primary School in St Ann on Wednesday.
The initiative formed part of the hotel's Read Across Jamaica Day activities.
It's reported that yesterday a dispute between 2 students resulted in one of them being injured. That fight was the catalyst for several other altercations, some of which were captured on videos that have since gone viral on social media.
Last month, the Ministry noted that eight schools were still operating as shelters, housing 81 shelterees. It promised to relocate those persons to viable accommodations by Friday May 8. Mr. Mckenzie said there are reports of persons discouraging shelterees from relocating.
There is a hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise vessel off the coast of West Africa. The World Health Organisation (WHO) says five of eight suspected cases have been confirmed. Three people who were aboard the ship have died.
It said there should also be whistle blower protection, public consultation, judicial review and limits on extraordinary powers. The group noted concerns raised by other interested parties about the NaRRA and the assurances of the Government, to include some amendments to the legislation.
