The Jamaica Constabulary Force says a secondary high-level investigation is underway following the discovery of two illegal parcels of cocaine within the storage facilities of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) this week. This comes as investigations continue into the arrest and charge of Police Inspector Martin Walker following the seizure of 5 point 8 kilograms of cocaine on January 8.

Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon has announced an extension of the rapid resumption grant initiative to include private early childhood and independent institutions.  The rapid resumption grant was established last year to provide clean up assistance to public schools which were impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

The Shipping Association of Jamaica, SAJ and key stakeholders are urging importers and cargo owners to take immediate action by clearing goods that have already been stripped from containers. In a statement, the SAJ says Jamaica's ports and cargo warehouses continue to face significant congestion, weeks after the traditional holiday rush.

The government says Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited, (JBM) retains oversight of Bauxite mining operations in St. Ann, holding a 51 percent interest in Discovery Bauxite Partners (DBP), which is managed by Concord. The Mining Ministry made the statement while acknowledging the recent announcement of a partnership between the Atlantic Alumina Company (ATALCO), parent company and partner of Discovery Bauxite Partners, formerly Noranda Partners II, the United States Department of War (DOW), and Concord Resources Holdings Limited (Concord).
