The government says Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited, (JBM) retains oversight of Bauxite mining operations in St. Ann, holding a 51 percent interest in Discovery Bauxite Partners (DBP), which is managed by Concord. The Mining Ministry made the statement while acknowledging the recent announcement of a partnership between the Atlantic Alumina Company (ATALCO), parent company and partner of Discovery Bauxite Partners, formerly Noranda Partners II, the United States Department of War (DOW), and Concord Resources Holdings Limited (Concord).

A second set of Caribbean  linemen is in Jamaica with more to come, as the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) pushes ahead in the final stages of restoration, following category 5 Hurricane Melissa.  The regional linemen are in the island as part of a mutual assistance partnership among Caribbean Electric Utilities, through the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), which sees member countries assisting each other in the face of disaster.

He has been identified as 68-year-old Lewis Crosby of Wentworth Drive, Galina, St. Mary. Four other persons were injured.
