Carib Cement Company commences renovation of historic Rockfort Mineral Bath Complex
Caribbean Cement Company Limited has commenced work to upgrade the public baths at the Rockfort Mineral Bath Complex in east Kingston.
The project, which should take four months to complete, began over a week ago following the completion of the procurement process for a contractor.
The planned works include renovating the public pool, seating areas and sanitary facilities.
Company Chairman, Parris Lyew-Ayee emphasised the project’s significance in restoring the facility to its rightful place as a cherished asset for Jamaicans and visitors to Kingston.
Since 2009, the Rockfort-based cement company has operated the complex and in May this year, signed a 25-year lease with the Jamaica National Heritage Trust and its parent body, the Ministry of Culture.
Over the next five years, Caribbean Cement plans to invest $57 million in significant repairs and upgrades to the facility.
