Capleton, Tarrus Riley, Anthony B and Warrior King are among the entertainers commemorating the 96th anniversary of the coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen.

In a tribute shared on social media, Capleton wrote, “Rasta is a way of life, the roots, tradition & defend the people.”

Tarrus Riley also marked the occasion by referencing lyrics from his hit song She’s Royal, writing, “I N I Knw THE KING N QUEEN CROWN SAME TIME.”

Anthony B shared his own message, writing in part, “HAPPY CORONATION RASTA O King Alfa & Queen Omega! One Way.”

Meanwhile, Warrior King reflected on the spiritual significance of the occasion, writing, “The ancient prophecy has been fulfilled. Who have eyes to see will see and who have ears hear.”

On November 2, 1930, Ras Tafari Makonnen and Woizero Menen Asfaw were both crowned at St. George’s Cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as Emperor Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen, respectively. Haile Selassie I was given the titles “King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God.”

The coronation marked a historic milestone for African sovereignty and became a significant source of inspiration for the global Rastafari movement, whose followers regard the event as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
