Capleton honors the children of St. Mary with a Back to School Treat

International reggae recording artiste Clifton “Capleton” Bailey, through his “A St Mary Mi Come From” Foundation, once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and community development by hosting the foundation’s annual Back-to-School Treat on Wednesday August 5th in Port Maria, St Mary.
The longstanding initiative, which has been held every year since 1998, brought together hundreds of children and their families for a day centred on preparation for the upcoming academic year, while reinforcing the importance of investing in the island’s young people.
The event transformed the venue into a vibrant celebration, combining practical support with an atmosphere of joy, encouragement, and community togetherness. Students from communities across St Mary received essential back-to-school items, including bookbags, notebooks, pencils, shoes, and other school supplies to help ease the financial burden many parents face as they prepare their children for the new school term.
Beyond the educational assistance, children and families also enjoyed complimentary meals, refreshments, rides, and entertainment, creating a memorable experience for all who attended. The event was marketed to the mainstream media by Contractor Music Marketing and planned by Suzette Bennett, director at the St Mary Mi Come From Foundation.
This year’s Back-to-School Treat was held at Port Maria Primary School, where students from surrounding communities gathered to participate in the day’s activities. In addition to receiving school supplies, attendees benefited from giveaways provided by sponsors and enjoyed entertainment from the event’s host and onsite DJ, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.
At the treat , Capleton said “Di foundation of a nation a di yute dem. If we can help di parents and mek di pickney dem feel good fi go back to school, then we fulfilling a purpose. Education a di key.”
