Campion College student who died after being hit by a goal post laid to rest
An academically gifted, well rounded and god fearing child. That’s how many described young Rashad Richards at his funeral today.
The 13 year old second form student of Campion College died after being hit by a goal post during a rugby practice session at the school in October.
He was laid to rest at the family plot in Minard Hill, Browns Town, following the home going service at his church, the Salem New Testament Church of God, in Runaway Bay, S. Ann.
Several tributes were given by representatives of the church, Campion College, Columbus Prep, North East Regional Health Authority, Runway Bay Community Pharmacy, and the Education Ministry.
His god father Andre Coore delivered the eulogy.
Coore outlined Rashad’s love of family, god and church, having being born into a Christian family and being baptised at around 10 years old.
He also noted Rashad’s achievements in school, excelling in many subjects with grades ranging from 90 to 99 percent, as well as his helpfulness in tutoring his friends, so much so that they gave him the nickname Professor.
He also spoke of Rashad’s love of sports, particularly football.
