Call made for government to make Chief Tacky a National Hero
Member of Parliament for St. Mary Western, Robert Montague has called on the government to make Chief Tacky a national hero.
He made this appeal at the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) 81st annual conference.
Mr. Montague emphasized that Chief Tacky led the longest and largest war against slavery and is credited with initiating the great resistance movement.
Additionally, Mr. Montague urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intensify efforts to seek a national pardon for national hero Marcus Garvey from the United States.
