A call is being made for entities that repeatedly breach environmental laws to be stripped of their permits.

This following several recent effluent spills into the Rio Cobre in St. Catherine.

The latest incident occurred last Wednesday.

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) says it has launched an investigation into the matter.

However, President of Friends of the Rio Cobre, Kestonard Gordon says the issue is occurring too often, and in some cases, the companies that are allegedly responsible get away with the crime.

He says a system must be in place, where entities which surpass a certain number of breaches, would have their permits revoked.

This he believes would greatly effect change.
