Cabinet to sign off on final strategy for payment of outstanding traffic tickets on Monday
Cabinet is to sign off on the final strategy for payment of outstanding traffic tickets on Monday.
This, according to Transport Minister, Audley Shaw, who was speaking at the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services’, Todss, stakeholders road safety round table conference in Kingston on Thursday.
The update comes after wide scale protests from taxi operators who had called for a traffic ticket amnesty to be granted by government.
While the amnesty was denied, the transport ministry had indicated that it would consider other options to assist the operators.
On Thursday, Mr Shaw assured that government is actively discussing strategies, for the way forward, for payment of the outstanding tickets.
He noted that with the new road traffic act slated to be implemented early next year, it is important to resolve the issue soon.
