Cabinet to know results of investigations in deaths of newborn and elderly woman at public health facilities
Representatives from the Health Ministry are to present the results of investigations they conducted into two recent incidents, which occurred at public health facilities in Clarendon and Trelawny, in cabinet today.
The incidents resulted in the deaths of a newborn and an elderly woman at the May Pen and Falmouth hospitals respectively.
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton had ordered a high-level probe into the Falmouth matter.
Following heightened public concern about the matters, Prime Minister Andrew Holness instructed the leadership of the ministry to investigate both incidents and present the findings at today’s cabinet meeting.
Information Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said the cabinet will consider promptly the matters and implement any necessary remediation measures.
