Businessman Ian Ives could be JLP’s standard bearer for Manchester Southern in next general poll, following internal election yesterday
Businessman Ian Ives could be the Jamaica Labour Party’s standard bearer for the Manchester Southern Constituency in the next general poll.
This followed an internal election among party workers yesterday.
Ives secured 221 votes, while Member of Parliament Robert Chin received 145 votes.
Businessman Adion Peart got 34.
Following yesterday’s selection exercise, Party Deputy Leader Michael Stern explained that while preliminary results indicate that Mr. Ives is leading in the polls, the final decision will be made by the selection committee.
Mr. Stern also noted that the timing of the internal election will not affect the Party’s chances when it goes up against the People’s National Party’s Peter Bunting in the upcoming general election.
