Brianna Lyston named on the 2025 Bowerman pre-season Watch-List

World Junior Relay gold medallist Brianna Lyston has for the first time been named on the 2025 Bowerman pre-season Watch-List.

The Bowerman award which is handed out annually is the highest accolade awarded Collegiate athletes in the United States. 

Lyston now a Junior at Louisiana State University is fresh off of an historic Indoor and Outdoor 2024 season, where she won gold in the Women’s 60-meter event at the NCAA Indoors Championship. 

The former Hydel stand out  was also named US Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association South Central region Indoor Track Athlete of the year and first team All-American, before her season was cut short through a leg injury.  

Meanwhile, the Arkansas middle distance runner and former Calabar high school standout Rivaldo Marshall was among some nine athletes who received votes from the Bowerman watch list committee, but not enough to land on the watch list itself. 

The Bowerman awards will be presented at the annual USA Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Convention in Grapevine, Texas in December. 

The next watch list will be published on February 6. 

National record holder Jaydon Hibbert won the award in 2023 during superb freshman season at the University of Arkansas where he went undefeated in the triple jump, which included a sweep of the SEC and NCAA titles as well as breaking decades old collegiate and World Under 20 records while finishing the year as world leader.
