The Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) has ruled in favour of the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association (JMDA) in relation to the overtime rate for doctors.
The ruling comes after the island’s doctors staged a 24 hour strike at the weekend, stepping up pressure on the IDT to hand down the long-awaited ruling.
The JMDA has been awaiting a ruling since April 1 this year, however, the issue dates back to 2023.
In an update to the media today Industrial Relations Consultant Senator Lambert Brown said the JMDA received the award sometime after 4 p.m. today.
He said the JMDA is looking forward to meet with the Government to implement the ruling.
