Police have identified the 12 year old boy shot and killed in a gun attack at the intersection of Lindsay Crescent and Dunrobin Avenue, in St. Andrew this morning.

He is Kevaughn Fearon.

His mother was also shot and wounded in the incident.

A third person who was in the vehicle which was fired upon by gunmen escaped harm.

Reports from the police are that at approximately 7:27 a.m. Fearon’s mother was driving her motor vehicle along Lindsay Crescent, when she stopped at a traffic  light.

Men reportedly drove up on a motorcycle and opened gunfire at the vehicle.

When the shooting subsided, it was discovered that both the mother and child were wounded.

They were taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies where the child was pronounced dead.

The mother is undergoing treatment.

Detectives from the St. Andrew north criminal investigations branch are probing the incident.
