The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) is urging citizens who have encountered difficulties with the new banknotes to contact the entity.

The advisory follows the circulation of a video detailing anomalies one citizen noticed on a banknote

In the one-and-a-half-minute video, the woman expressed that after withdrawing several new banknotes recently, she went to make a purchase with a new one thousand dollar bill received from the automated teller machine and realized that some of the features on the note were missing.

Noting that she was unable to make the purchase due to the issue with the banknote, she queried how to address the matter.

In response, the BOJ said it has commenced an investigation into the matter.

It said anyone who has a similar experience should visit the bank to have the notes tested and replaced if they are deemed genuine.

The new banknotes were released last Thursday.
