The search for a missing St. Andrew farmer ended in tragedy when his body was found in a shallow grave on Monday.

The incident also led to an alleged confrontation between the police and the persons suspected to be involved in the farmer’s disappearance.

Dead are 75-year-old Leslie Roberts, a goat farmer of Bull Bay, Kimon Foreman and an unidentified man.

Reports are that relatives reported Roberts as missing on Monday, September 1, prompting an investigation into his disappearance.

The search initiated a separate but related police operation in the Bito district on September 2.

During this operation, two men were shot and killed in an alleged confrontation with police.

Police said one of them, later identified as Foreman, was the main suspect in Roberts’ disappearance.

Foreman was also listed as wanted in relation to a shooting incident in the Kingston East area.

A rifle and a pistol were seized during the incident.

The collaborative search effort between the Kingston East police, the Canine Division and community members from Bull Bay subsequently led to the discovery of Roberts’ body in a shallow grave in Bito district, 9 Miles in Bull Bay, St. Andrew on Monday, September 8.

The scene was processed and the body was removed to the morgue pending a post-mortem examination.

The Kingston East police are urging anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to contact them.
