Bob Marley Beach case returns to court

Come tomorrow Wednesday September 11, the case to protect continued beach access at the famed Bob Marley Beach will resume in the Sutton Street Resident Magistrate Court.

A shared post on Instagram earlier today by both Ziggy Marley and the Jamaica Beach Birthright Environment Movement (JaBBEM) called on the government to vacate instruments of law, that continue to undermine the public and deny them their rights to access beaches.

In 2022, Bob Marley Beach, favourite of the Reggae Icon, came under imminent threat of Public Access loss including the removal of longstanding Rastafari families who lived on the adjoining property for over fifty years.

Ziggy Marley has been vocal about Jamaicans having free access to beaches on the island; oftentimes using his platform to support JaBBEM in their relentless effort in the fight against colonial laws and standing up for the rights of everyday Jamaican citizens to have access to the island’s natural resources.
