Member of Parliament for St. Catherine East Central, Alando Terrelonge has described as baseless and deceptive, comments made by Portmore Mayor, Leon Thomas over how a recent meeting about the status of the Municipality was disrupted.

Mayor Thomas has strongly condemned disorderly and disruptive actions at the community meeting on Tuesday.

It was convened to discuss the Government’s proposal to grant Portmore parish status.

In a statement, the Mayor said the discussion was derailed when a group of Jamaica Labour Party supporters wearing green shirts stormed the meeting, aggressively brandishing placards, chanting “Showa Labourites” and attempting to hijack the proceedings.

However, hitting back at the claims, Mr. Terrelonge noted that he went to the meeting alone.

He said the Mayor’s claims are false.
