Students of Jessie Ripoll Primary to receive counselling today, following death of principal

It will be a very sad and emotional return to the classrooms for students of the Jessie Ripoll Primary School in Kingston today.

School principal, O’neil Stevens, along with his wife Camesha Lindsay-Stevens were killed in a motor vehicle crash in the United States on Friday.

While the Easter term formally began yesterday, the school did not resume normal classes as planned, deferring it to today.

This was to allow for meetings with the school board and Education Ministry representatives and to start grief counselling for affected staff members.

School Board Chairman, Marcia Thwaites told IRIE FM News that the institution’s guidance councillors and others from the Education Ministry will be providing psychological support to students today.
