Fire brigade says fire at Pearnel Charles arcade which reignited has been extinguished

Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Stewart Beckford says the fire which re-ignited at the Pearnel Charles arcade early this morning, has been extinguished.

He said after being alerted, firefighters were quickly dispatched to the arcade, to tackle the blaze.

Yesterday, at around 7 A.M. a fire engulfed a section of the arcade destroying 95 shops and impacting over 50 vendors.

More than 40 firefighters drawn from stations in the corporate area, responded to the blaze.

Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby is expected to convene a meeting with vendors today, to determine how they will be assisted.
