Jamaica College has parted company with head coach of the track and field team Neil Harrison.

Irie Fm sports can confirm that Harrison was told by Acting Principal Wayne Robinson during a meeting at the school on Friday at JC, that his contract will not be renewed following a third consecutive runner up finish behind Kingston College at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in March.

Harrison led JC to the title for the first time in a decade in 2021 after he joined the Old Hope Road based institution in 2019.

Prior to that, Harrison was head coach at Kingston College for four years between 2014 and 2018 and during that time he also led the school to four consecutive runner up finishes behind Calabar.

Before he went to KC, Harrison coached at Munro College where he developed a reputation of being an outstanding 400 meters and relays coach.

He holds the distinction of being the only coach to win both the ISSA Boys Champs and ISSA Dacosta Cup competition.

Harrison led Clarendon College to the Dacosta Cup title in 1991.

In the meantime JC has begun its search for a new track and field head coach for the 2025 track season with the aim of stopping Kingston College from securing a fourth consecutve hold on the Mortimer Geddes Trophy in a year in which the North Street based school will be celebrating its 100th anniversary.
