Police report 11.7% reduction in major crimes, up to Saturday

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reporting an 11.7% reduction in major crimes, up to Saturday, July 13. 

This, as there were 2,175 crimes recorded, compared to 2,462 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

That’s a drop of 287.

In its break down, the JCF noted that for the period it recorded 626 murders; which is down by 103 from the 729 recorded last year; a 14.1% reduction.

As for shootings, 565 were recorded up to Saturday, 7 fewer than the 572 recorded last year.
