Over 34,000 students who sat the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) exams earlier this year, will know today where they will attend high school in the next academic year.

The placements are to be released at midday and can be accessed at dpisonline.com.

Education Minister Fayval Williams said this year 86.7% of the students got one of their 7 school choices. 

She said 3, 928 students were placed at high schools close to their primary schools and only 340 students were placed manually.

The students sat 11 tests over the three years between grades 4 and six.

The Education Minister said mathematics performance showed that 60% of students are categorized as proficient or highly proficient.

She stated that problem solving is the area for focus and intervention.

For Language Arts 67% of students were proficient or highly proficient, an increase of 7 percentage points.

Some 72% of students were proficient or highly proficient in both Science and Social Studies.

This is the first year since PEP was introduced in 2019, that a cohort of students transitioning to high school will have a profile that constitutes all the components.
