JLP condemns “baseless and coordinated attacks” by Integrity Commission agents on Holness’ reputation

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has condemned what it says appears to be “unrelenting, baseless and coordinated attacks by a few agents within the Integrity Commission” on the reputation of Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the government.

According to the party, three times in under two years, agents within the commission have, without credible basis, attacked the Prime minister’s reputation.

It cites a 2023 report from the commission, another tabled in March this year, and the report tabled yesterday.

The JLP claims this latest report sought to link the prime minister to a company of which he is neither a director nor shareholder and does not own the property referenced.

The JLP also took issue with the finding of the report that there was a breach of the building permit in relation to the number of rooms constructed versus what was approved.

This is against the background of the documentation from the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation stating that the two-room stipulation was maintained.

The party says while it supports the Integrity Commission, it must insist that the anti-corruption fight not to be sabotaged or undermined, in any way shape, or form.

The party is of the view that the commission has been hijacked by a few agents who it claims are acting unfairly and in a biased manner towards Mr. Holness.
