The deceased is 55-year-old Eric Shakespeare.

Assistant Commissioner of INDECOM, Hamish Campbell told IRIE FM News that Shakespeare was shot dead during a planned police operation at 120 Mountain View Avenue at about 8:45 A.M.

Twenty-two people have been fatally shot by members of the security forces since the start of the year.

Meantime, sections of Mountain View Avenue, which were blocked by residents protesting the fatal shooting of Eric Shakespeare have been cleared.

Residents, upset over the killing, had used burning debris to block the roadway.

In response, police were deployed to the area to assist with traffic management.

The blockades were later removed.
