EOJ ramps up preparations for special services voting on Aug 29 and election day, Sept 3

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says it will be intensifying its preparations for the special services voting day on Friday, August 29 and election day on Wednesday, September 3.

This follows the successful nomination of 189 candidates for the general election yesterday.

136 are men and 53 are women.

Three candidates were each nominated by the Jamaica Labour Party and the People’s National Party to contest the by-elections for Chancery Hall, Olympic Gardens and Denham Town in Kingston and St. Andrew.

In a statement yesterday, the EOJ said following nomination day activities, it will move to assign symbols to the independent candidates, print ballots, distribute necessary supplies and prepare the polling stations.
