Everything is falling into place ahead of the the 2024 renewal of the ISSA Boys and Girls Athletics championship which gets underway on Wednesday at the National Stadium with several exciting and mouthwatering clashes on both sides of the gender divide.
Title-holders Kingston College is set to be hard pressed by Jamaica College, Calabar and St Jago on the boys side, while defending girls champions Hydel will battle many time champions Edwin Allen St Jago and Holmwood Technical for supremacy.
In total this year’s event will be contested by 198 schools….101 boys and 97 girls .
Edwin Allen will start as favourites to regain the girls title they lost last year to Hydel.
The event gets underway at 9am with the running of the preliminaries of the class three girls 1500 meters.
The first day will also see the running of the preliminaries in the 100 meters for both boys and girls along with the 400 meters, 400 meters hurdles and the 2000 meters steeplechase.
Some 88 events are to be contested over the five days, with the blue ribbon events the class one boys and girls 100 metres final set for Wednesday night.
