Former World 400 meters champion Bert Cameron, was one of three retired Jamaican athletes who were inducted in the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association – Collegiate Hall of Fame on Sunday.
In the induction Ceremony, held at the Hult Center for the performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon, Cameron, along with former long jumper Dianne Guthrie-Gresham and sprint hurdler Gillian Russell-Love, were among 12 athletes who were honoured for their outstanding Collegiate careers.
Cameron, a standout at the University of Texas at El Paso, captured five NCAA Division one 400-meter titles, three outdoors and two indoors, between 1980 and 1983, while Guthrie won five NCAA Division one titles , three in the long jump and two in the heptathlon, during her Collegiate career from 1991 to 1995 at George Mason University.
Meanwhile, Russell-Love the 1998 Commonwealth Champion and Formerly of the University of Miami won five NCAA division one titles, three outdoors in the 100-meter hurdles and two Indoors in the 55-meter hurdles – between 1992 and 1995.
