Acting Commanding Officer for Portland Deputy Superintendent Velonique Campbell is reporting an overall reduction of 15% in crimes in the parish.
This, as she noted that the parish continues to be one of the safest in Jamaica.
DSP Campbell said up to Wednesday, Portland had not recorded a serious crime since august 7, when 50-year-old Orlando Louden was shot and killed at his home in fairy hill.
Three suspects have been taken into custody in relation to that incident.
Meanwhile, speaking with Prime Minister Andrew Holness, DSP Campbell noted that the parish is facing an issue with incidents of aggravated assault.
