An earthquake was felt in sections of the island this morning. 

Irie FM  news understands that residents in St. Catherine, St James, St Mary, Manchester and St Ann felt the quake which lasted several seconds.

The Earthquake Unit said the quake occurred about 10:50AM.. 

One resident of Linstead in St. Catherine said he was at home when he heard a sound.

He said he was left traumatized by the incident. 

And approximately an hour later another earthquake was felt across the island.

The Earthquake Unit said the first quake had a magnitude of 5.6 while the second had a magnitude of 6.5.
