Students and teachers at the Gregory Park Primary school were left traumatized following a shooting incident on the school grounds on Thursday.

An unidentified man was fatally shot by the police during the incident along track road, in Gregory Park, Portmore.

The lawmen say a taurus 9 millimetre pistol with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition was also seized during the incident.

The constabulary says the matter was reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) was notified.

Meanwhile, speaking to Irie Fm news, principal of the institution, Richard Williams said the incident happened at around 8:15 a-m.

He said the incident took place just before devotion.

Mr Williams said students and teachers had to seek cover from shots being fired.

He said the unidentified man gained entrance to the compound after scaling the school’s perimetre wall.

Mr Williams said the students were dismissed at around 11 am.
