August 9 has been declared Christopher Martin Day in New York City in honour of reggae artiste, Christopher Martin.

The special citation was made by New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

This, as Martin was honoured at the Official People’s Ball on Saturday August 9.

It was hosted by Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc (JIFINYC) in Queens, New York.

Martin was also given the  Ambassador and Innovator of Reggae Music Award.

He also received proclamations from the US House of Representatives and New York State Senate signed by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and New York State Senator Kevin Parker.

Christopher Martin is known for hits such as Big Deal, Mama, Cheater’s Prayer among others.
