Attorneys representing Accompong Maroons in lawsuit against Gov’t confident ahead of hearing today
The legal team representing the Accompong Maroons in their lawsuit against the Government has expressed confidence ahead of the hearing, later today (July 12).
The Accompong Maroons led by Chief Richard Currie are suing the Government and the National Heritage Trust in relation to proposed mining of sections of the Cockpit Country which is occupied by the group.
The Maroons have made numerous calls for the area to be protected.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Attorney Alessandra Labeach said her team is prepared for the hearing.
She said the case is of national importance.
