Attorney to appeal against order denying former parliamentarian Jolyan Silvera, bail
One of the attorneys representing former parliamentarian Jolyan Silvera, is to appeal against the order denying his client bail.
King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie made the revelation after the bail application for the former People’s National Party Western St. Mary MP who is charged with the murder of his wife was rejected in court today.
Melissa Silvera, the wife of the accused, was found dead in the couple’s home in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, on November 10 last year.
It was first reported that the 42-year-old woman died of natural causes in her sleep.
However, an autopsy performed 3 weeks after her death, revealed the presence of bullet fragments in her body.
The police then commenced a murder investigation.
Mr. Silvera was arrested and charged with murder.
He is to return to court on September 26.
