Ato Boldon suspects there will be a national sports emergency in Jamaica

There will be a national sports emergency in Jamaica at the end of the Olympic Games in Paris, given the lukewarm performances from the bulk of the Jamaican sprinters across multiple events.

That’s the view expressed by track and field analyst and World Championship 200 meters gold medalist Ato Boldon.

Outside of Kishane Thompson who got silver in the men’s 100 metre event, Jamaica was missing from the men’s 200 meter final for the first time in 20 years and was also absent from the women’s equivalent for the first time since 1976.

In addition the country will not be featured in the men’s 4×100 meter final having previously dominated the event between 2008 and 2016.
