Asafa to share professional expertise in Ghana

Former World 100 meters record holder Asafa Powell has confirmed he will be taking up an offer to lend his expertise in assisting athletes in Ghana.

This arose out of the recent visit to the island by Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama who extended the invitation during his four-day state visit to Jamaica.

Powell is expected to attend a major national youth sports festival as a special guest to share his professional expertise, encourage young talent, and promote sporting excellence.

The connection is supported by Asafa Powell’s family ties; his wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell, is of Ghanaian heritage.

The diplomatic and sporting exchange is slated to be coordinated with assistance from Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.Broader Impact:
