Archbishop of Canterbury issues apology on behalf of Church of England for involvement in slavery
The Archbishop of Canterbury has issued an apology to Jamaicans, on behalf of the Church of England for its historical involvement in the enslavement of Africans.
Justin Welby, delivered the apology during the 200th anniversary celebratory service of the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands at the national arena on Sunday.
He acknowledged that while the apology was long overdue, it is better late than never.
