A total of 24 teams including five newcomers are down to participate in this year’s renewal of the Andre Russell Summer Football League which is set to take place at the Port Esquivel Sports Club in Bodles, St Catherine.

Among the first time entrants are: Lintesa, Track Star, Soccer Saints, Red Ground and Hot Spurs.

They will join defending champions Old Harbour Bay in the competition that begins on June 2 going through to the final week in August.

The winner of this year’s competition will walk away with $500, 000, with the runner up to collect $300, 000.

The third place team will take home $200, 000 while the fourth placed team will collect $100, 000.

Meanwhile the Most Valuable Player will take away $20, 000, the leading goalscorer $20, 000, best goalkeeper $15, 000 and most disciplined team $15, 000.

The most promising youngster will take away $10, 000 and the top coach $10, 000.

The competition kicks off on June 2 with three games: Defending Champions Old Harbour Bay will meet newcomers Lintesa, Medley Mixers go up against Hot Spurs while All Stars will oppose Soccer Saints.
