Amendment bill which exempts Jamaican World Bank employees from income tax payment passed in Senate
An amendment bill, which exempts locally recruited employees of the World Bank from the payment of income tax was passed in the Upper House on Friday.
The bill entitled “The Bretton Woods Agreement Amendment Act’, was passed without opposition.
Government Senator, Kamina Johnson Smith, described the amendment as a positive move, which aims to ensure Jamaican employees of the World Bank get the same benefits as their foreign colleagues.
Meanwhile, Senator Peter Bunting noted that the bill is not controversial, hence, the Opposition’s support.
