Ambulance drivers in Corporate Area agree to resume normal duties after staging sick out
Ambulance drivers in the Corporate Area who took industrial action earlier this week have agreed to return to work.
The drivers attached to the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) had called in sick on Monday and Tuesday.
They were upset about delays in overtime payments and other issues affecting their work arrangements.
As a result, mental health services at the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department, and operations at the National Chest Hospital were impacted.
Yesterday, the Labour Ministry held a conciliatory meeting with representatives from SERHA, the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department, and the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers (JALGO) which represents the drivers.
The Ministry said the drivers agreed to resume normal duties at the KSA Health Department, effective yesterday.
SERHA and the KSA Health Department will meet again with JALGO at the local level, to discuss the concerns of drivers and seek avenues for a resolution
The parties will return to the Labour Ministry for a follow-up conciliation meeting, on September 10.
