An airport employee who was convicted of several drug offences was arrested at the Sangster International Airport yesterday while attempting to flee the country.

38-year-old Kimauly Hoyles of Patrick City, in St. Andrew was convicted on six counts in connection with the seizure of over 2 billion dollars worth of cocaine at the Norman Manley International Airport on December 10, 2020.

He was found guilty of the charges on May 30, 2024 and was scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish court for sentencing yesterday.

Hoyles, however, failed to appear, resulting in a bench warrant being issued for his arrest. 

He was arrested at the Sangster International Airport as he attempted to flee the country with an American passport under a different name. 

Mr. Hoyles remains in police custody pending further investigation.
