Agriculture Minister Floyd Green says approximately 150 farmers were impacted by the recent heavy rains across the island. 

Rains lashed most parishes from Saturday to Wednesday due to an area of disturbed weather associated with a broad trough across the Western Caribbean. 

Speaking to IRIE FM News this morning, Mr. Green said that farmers in South Manchester and South-East St. Elizabeth were mostly impacted. 

He said escallions, tomatoes and other vegetables were destroyed. 

Mr. Green added that government has begun assessments and will be assisting the farmers soon.
