Adrian Donsome Hanson defends AI-assisted album submitted for Grammy

Musician and producer Adrian “Donsome” Hanson is defending his AI-assisted album that was submitted for Grammy consideration in the Best Reggae Album category.

According to Hanson, only about 10 percent of AI was used in the project, Dem Can’t Stop My Joy, which aligns with Grammy guidelines. The Recording Academy allows the use of AI in music creation, as long as the human contribution outweighs the AI-generated portion and the work is not entirely AI-created.

The use of artificial intelligence in music continues to raise questions about creativity and authenticity. Fans and industry players have also been discussing two AI-generated songs circulating online one titled Way Maker, allegedly featuring Damian Marley and Taylor Swift, and another called Louder Than Words, reportedly with Junior Gong and Rihanna.

As more creatives experiment with AI, the debate continues about how this technology will shape the future of music and what it means for artists whose voices or likenesses are being replicated without consent.
