Ackera Nugent sets world leading 60 metres hurdles time in the Lievin World Athletics Tour Gold Meeting in France

Jamaica’s national 100m hurdles record holder, Ackera Nugent, ran the fastest women’s indoor 60m hurdles time of the year, setting the track alight with a blistering performance at the prestigious Lievin World Athletics Tour Gold Meeting in France on Thursday,

Nugent powered her way to a world-leading 7.75 seconds, narrowly edging out the previous world lead of 7.76 seconds, set by Olympic champion Masai Russell of the USA at the Millrose Games in New York the previous week.

Despite Nugent’s triumph, there was disappointment for her fellow Jamaican, Crystal Morrison, who struggled in her heat. Morrison finished sixth with a time of 8.16 seconds, which was not enough to propel her into the final.

Meanwhile, in the men’s shot put, National champion and Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell showcased his impressive strength and consistency, to finished third with a solid throw of 21.34 metres, behind Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri, who took the top spot with a throw of 21.95 metres.
