Ackera Nugent continues her unbeaten streak with victory at the Copernicus Cup in Poland

National champion Ackera Nugent continued her impressive run of form this season by claiming victory in the Women’s 60 Metres Hurdles at the Copernicus Cup in Poland on Sunday.

The former Excelsior High School sprint hurdler, maintained an unbeaten streak as she crossed th line in 7.79 seconds, securing the top spot ahead of Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who clocked an impressive personal best of 7.80 seconds.

This victory for Nugent follows her world-leading time just last week in Liévin, France where she won in the 60 meters hurdles event in 7.75 seconds.

Meanwhile, on the men’s side, Shawn D. Thompson put in a strong performance in the Men’s Long Jump, finishing sixth with a personal best leap of 7.69 metres.

In the Men’s 60 Metres Hurdles, USA’s Dylan Beard took first place with a time of 7.69 seconds, as the 2016 Olympic champion Omar McLeod, did not show up for the competition.

Over at the Tyson Invitational Meet in Arkansas, NACAC Discus champion Ralford Mullings secured a third-place finish in the Men’s Shot Put event with a best throw of 18.91 metres.

Another exciting performance came from 2024 Paris Olympics high jump finalist Romaine Beckford, who opened his season with a solid clearance of 2.20 metres to finish fifth in the Men’s High Jump. Fellow Jamaican Raymond Richards also impressed, clearing 2.23 metres to secure a tie for second place alongside American Vernon Turner.
