Accused cop killer charged with murder
A Kingston man has been arrested and charged in relation to the killing of police constable Brian Martin, last month.
He is 20-year-old Jermaine Hamilton otherwise called ‘Alex’, of Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 13.
Hamilton is facing charges of murder, 4 counts of wounding with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.
The charges stem from the death of 21-year-old Martin of Barbican, St. Andrew, on Saturday, October 15.
Constable Martin was among persons attending a wake, in Frog City, when Hamilton and other men allegedly alighted from a motor car and opened gunfire at the group.
When the shooting subsided, Constable Martin and three other persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were taken to hospital where martin was pronounced dead, and the others treated and released.
Hamilton was apprehended on Monday, October 17. He was later pointed out on an identification parade and charged.
His court date is being finalized.
Another man accused of involvement in the incident – Kevin Ruddock otherwise called ‘Haji’- was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police on Friday, October 28.
