Accompong Electoral Committee says nominations for Maroon election to proceed as planned tomorrow, amidst injunction reports

The Electoral Committee of Accompong in St. Elizabeth says tomorrow’s Nomination Day for the May 22 Maroon Election will proceed as scheduled.

Chief Richard Currie revealed the nomination and election dates on his Instagram page on Sunday, but since then, there have been reports of an injunction to block the activities.

It was sought by potential candidate, Meredith Rowe.

One of Mr. Rowe’s attorneys, George Traille, told IRIE FM News that the injunction was filed in the Supreme Court in Kingston last week and granted yesterday.

He claimed that the nomination and election have been put on hold.

When IRIE FM News reached out to Chief Currie for confirmation, he said he was not in receipt of the injunction document.

The newsroom also sought confirmation from Clavie Johnson, the Director of the Electoral Committee of Accompong.

He said he had not been served the document.

Mr. Johnson noted that Nomination and Election Day activities will go ahead as planned.
