Accommodation plans for LA 2028 Olympic hits another roadblock

Accommodation plans for the Los Angeles Olympic in 2028 have hit another roadblock.

This with a dispute between city officials and the hospitality industry threatening the organization’s guarantee, to provide a minimum of 40,000 hotel rooms that the International Olympic Committee requires to host spectators.

The Los Angeles City Council gave final approval regarding the updates to the city’s living wage and hotel workers minimum wage  last week, however, at least eight hotels are threatening to withdraw their agreements to provide discounted rooms for Olympic fans, arguing that the increased labour costs are financially unfeasible.

Additionally, the changes include a mandated healthcare payment, that covers safety, worker rights, harassment, discrimination and other issues.

Hoteliers who have expressed strong opposition to the wage hike, have warned the council ahead of a vote,  should it be approved without significant changes, they will be pulling out of the room agreement for the Olympic Games.
